Good morning Delusional Duck Followers. Over the years I have been brutally beaten and warmly embraced on the Duck. The experience has been important to me in my development as a candidate and a person. You have pointed out weakness, shortcomings and areas where I needed to pay particular attention to my positions and how I was perceived in the community. You have reminded me why I started my journey in public service so many years ago and helped me to refocus on those whom I seek to serve.

One of the most important lessons I have learned over the years is that in order to be a good leader and a good public servant you must always be willing to grow and learn and remain open to other’s points of view. More importantly I have learned that positive change and innovation comes from the bottom up not the top down. It is only when we sincerely listen to what’s on the minds of our citizens, friends, and families that we build a better tomorrow.

I want to take this opportunity, as we begin early voting, to sincerely THANK the Delusional Duck for their endorsement and while I may not always like what I read on the Duck as it relates to me, I want to thank each and everyone of you for as they say “keeping me honest and real.”

I want to congratulate each and every candidate for jobs well done and I wish each and everyone of them success in their future endeavors. Regardless of the outcome of this election, I know that each one of the candidates will be forever changed in a positive way as a result of what they have experienced during their campaigns. We have a remarkable group of candidates and now the voters must decide. It is clear that you bloggers care and it is clear that you have some strong opinions - now I ask you to please VOTE! Thanks again. Enjoy this beautiful day.

The handful of Charles County commissioner hopefuls who’ve already thrown their hats into the ring have all stressed a lack of transparency and communication between government and community as something they will cure, but commissioners’ president candidate Jim Thompson (R) is singing a different tune about frustration with the county seat.

“It’s not a lack of communication; it’s a lack of common sense. [The commissioners] are not part of the average, everyday person in the county,” Thompson said. “The commissioners we have have never made hard choices. … They’ve said ‘yes’ to everything. It’s not any one individual, but collectively they’ve been irresponsible.”
