All documants state that the CCC-extension is a fully COUNTY funded highway.

If it had any state or federal money involved we would not be fighting
to get an EIS ...
it would not be an issue ...and EIS would be given.

As for the state funding the extension,  it may have been as far back as 1987 that an article in the MD
Independent appeared saying that the state would not fund the proposed highway.

The big picture is to push congestion to the western part of the county.
Congestion would be caused by the 10 K units they want to put
into Bryans Road Town Center…they can’t get the investors for high
density in Bryans Road without the tool of the highway.

With the congestion they would be able to get a justification and
push through the new lower Potomac Bridge which is the big push
for people who pull strings in Southern MD.

This is also the reason the Charles County Government has always
only supported the Waldorf Western Bypass ... so the development
would help push the congestion westward.

In regard to the last comment, it is obvious that this individual is not involved in any of the ‘employee passing around’ that takes place at county government.

No, but I am involved in the employee passing around that takes place at the federal government. My organization gets reorganized about once every 18 months. People get uprooted on a regular basis, moved from one job and division to another. Somehow, that doesn’t quite reach the level of being whipped daily, or being hobbled, or branded, or killed. And despite the horror of being transfered from one division to another, I hear these folks still get paid for their work, something most real slaves aren’t accustomed to.

If you could talk directly to the people who were part of these trades (and if they weren’t afraid to talk honestly) to see how they feel, you would agree that the original posting was not quite as ignorant as claimed.

However most individuals won’t talk honestly right now as employees in many departments (mine for sure) have been told to stay off of the delusional duck site and refrain from talking about Charles County Government activities to non employees.

Employees in one department were clearly told that they could no longer speak of the fact that compressed schedules were eliminated.

And finally, in regard to the $75 million that NBA players are paid and then passed around from team to team…  uhh… don’t know if you’re aware, but most county employees are just making enough money to make ends meet and are praying that their jobs are not eliminated or outsourced.  Pay me $75 million for a one year contract (or a two year, or a three year or a 10 year!!) and I’ll happily move from department to department and won’t complain one little bit!

Complain all you want, but don’t pretend for a minute you’re a slave, or are treated anywhere near the way slaves were. Best I can tell, you can leave your job any time you want without fear of being murdered, or crippled to keep you from running away. You may not get the salary you want, but I doubt you’re worked from sun-up to sundown for zero pay, little food and water, and animal like living conditions.

It is sad that our Commissioners are more interested in the potential tax revenue they will receive from developing sensitive wetlands than preserving these wetlands.  The Mattawoman Creek is endangered by the CCC.  The Commissioners all support the development of the Weir Peninsula on Swan Point, even though the entire peninsula will be inundated by a category 2 flood. They have even approved a TIF Bond to build the bridge necessary to access this Peninsula, because the taxes they will reap from this 60 acre parcel will pay for this construction and more. Our future tax dollars are being used to degrade the environment because they see a profit in it.
The TIF bond is also to be used to stabilize the Swan Point shoreline that will create a beach.  Our Commissioners, Delegate Levy and Senator Middleton were all willing to let this beach be a private, exclusive, amenity for the residents of Swan Point!
Of course our County President F. Wayne Cooper was looking out for all the little people when he testified before the Board of Public Works “On public access, it’s our understanding that you’d have to have a large parking lot for public access. And to my knowledge that has not been part of this plan at this time. However, public access by boat, there will be the piers and the docks, as you know, that will be there. And Public access by water, by law people have a right to come in by water and use the beach areas if they would like by boat. So that’s the way it is. .....”
Well Mr Cooper is looking out for all the little people with boats.
Thankfully the State has determined that this beach and all amenities in the 100’ Buffer must be public, and a method by which public access must be provided or the amenities must be removed from the development plan.

FACTS TO REMEMBER FOR 2010- taken from post by Birdman on July 29th 2009:

. I have seen them raise property taxes during what their own party is calling a recession, which is contrary to the advice of every economist in the nation. I watched as they assumed the fiduciary responsibility for the stadium that was originally meant to be levied on Opening Day Partners, LLC. I watched as they approved development in this county that exceeded their own strategic growth plan by 60+% despite credible warnings about water shortages that this county is experiencing. I watched as they bailed out an ailing private venture with taxpayer dollars that has continued to be a white elephant. I watched as they continue to allow development companies to work on government contracts even though they consistantly run over budget and over time deadline. I watch as the commissioners continually conduct business behind closed doors only to emerge with decisions in hand prior to holding “public information” meetings. I have watched as the commissioners have continuously promised to attract high-end, techno-businesses to the Waldorf / White plains area but, as yet, we simply have more pharmacies, car washes and mini marts - where are the white-collar businesses? I hear them talk about the citizens of Nanjemoy as if the commissioners are here to save the day for them and yet, their big plan is a low-cost housing project miles away from stores, medical facilities or transportation.

They furloughed the career EMS providers and by doing this REDUCED service to the public. Their division was forced to remove personnel from Co. 60 in white plains where the career staff manned their unit on 40% of their calls as a driver or Paramedic upgrade ambulance.

The EMS division was forced to have only one supervisor working on numerous days. The supervisors are also paramedics and provide ALS as a primary unit when needed or back up another paramedic ambulance on serious calls. On those days one supervisor has to cover 14 employees for the ENTIRE county. Thats Newburg to Waldorf and Hughesville to Bryans road….

911 communications was already dangerously understaffed and now its even worse. It has been proven it now takes on average one minute longer to dispatch a call….if your not breathing a minute is a long time.

The county has 6 channels to use for emergency situations and only one is able to be used do to cuts. The 2nd channel is hit or miss. Usually more miss…..

I would imagine that none of us will ever know the true extent of this groups self serving vindictivness.  It has long been rumored that Cooper has been dogging Fink to speed up the Ethics Commission finding regarding Susie Bowles, hoping for an ruling against her, thereby opening up for his run at the Register of Will position.  Its all about the money with Wayne,  In fact, someone onm the Duck once said it drives the five crazy that they have to pay some of the employees more than the commissioners pay scale.  Unless the electorate in Charles rises up in indignation in November, which I seriously doubt will happen, we are going to enjoy another four years of at least three of these clowns.  That truly is pathetic!!!!

Nice list, but there is only one fact that should matter.  Not one of the currently seated county commissioners is even remotely qualified to serve as an elected official.  NONE!!!  Unfortunately, the slate of candidates for 2010 is, with a couple of notable exceptions (Kelly and Lehan), are just as unqualified.  However, in this instance an unknown evil may actually be better than a known evil.

I would add Ken Robinson and Rick Campbell to your notable exceptions list.  One Democrat; one Republican.  Both are well-steeped on county issues; both are capable of working with others.  Both have a history of serving their Districts (Robinson District 1; Campbell District 2).  Both would bring different viewpoints and experiences to the Commissioner table.  Neither is tied to those who insist on trying to keep CC as their own personal fiefdom.

Not one of the currently seated county commissioners is even remotely qualified to serve as an elected official.

The only qualifications that I feel are necessary to serve as Commissioner here in Charles County are these:

1. Honesty
2. Integrity
3. Intelligence
4. Common Sense
5. The ability to communicate effectively
6. Leadership qualities
7. Fiscal responsibility and understanding

If this describes you, you should be filing this week!  If it doesn’t sound like the current board, you should be voting in November!
