From the Indy:

The 24-year-old law school student plans to run for the seat currently held by five-term incumbent Susie C. Bowles, who is the subject of an ongoing ethics probe into her request to be added to the county retirement system while receiving a state pension.

She hasn’t actually come out and announced that she’s running as far as I know, she has been spending money out of her campaign finance account to pay for tickets for the County’s 350 year celebration events and other get-togethers… so I guess she’s been “campaigning.”

Her comments in the Indy article do clearly send the message that she wants to keep her position… despite the questions raised about her integrity and ethics.

Yeah, by a woman who’s biggest accomplishment in life is being married to a judge.

Maria that was truly a very harsh and hateful and uncalled for thing to say.

I say congratulations to Mrs. Hennessy and offer her my hand in support of a truly often misunderstood governmental office.

I am quite sure Mrs. Hennessy has had many, many wonderful accomplishments in her life, they may not please you, but then again, they don’t need to.

Again Mrs. Hennessy congratulations on your recent swearing in as our Register of Wills, I am certain your will bring integrity BACK to this office.

I’m with RR on this one.  Susie Bowles would’ve won had she not been under investigation (or should’ve been) for unethical behavior.  Can’t just sweep this sort of stuff under the rug and not have someone notice.

While its no secret why I did not support Mrs. Bowles in this election, I do not think her “incident” had anything to do with her not being re-elected. Looking at the percentages from the election, Charles County is now a democratic party controlled county. There’s no beating around the bush about it. Susie Bowles lost because she was on the ballot as a Republican. This is ONE instance where the outcome based on partisan voting worked in the electorate’s favor.

Hard to say.  She was the incumbent (although we all know how most of them fared here at the county level), and I’m just guessing here, but Independents and others knowledgeable of her ethics violations, probably had no reason not to vote for the Democrat.
