From Comfort’s Facebook page:

County Commissioner President Wayne Cooper announces decision today to not run for re-election due to his health. This leaves the door wide open. Expect an announcement in a few days.

I would hope Mr. Comfort would have better judgement that to think he has a chance of winning.  But who knows.  I know the teachers don’t like him at all.  They have a huge voice.

I know the teachers don’t like him at all.  They have a huge voice.

County employees aren’t fond of him, either, after he kicked the blue collar workers out of the employee lunchroom plus a goodly amount of department heads up and left after he was hired.  And there is still nothing about why he was fired from the County Administrator’s job.  With his baggage I wouldn’t consider Comfort a viable candidate.

I still dont think he has announced- he is letting everyone ‘court’ him.

Comfort was merely doing what the Commissioners wanted done and they didn’t have the spine to do their own dirty work. Then when he finally started saying no…..the knife in the back was fast and deep. Thank goodness Cooper is stepping down!! You can’t suggest for a minute that Patterson is worthy of the position. You want someone who will speak up and Comfort is that person. Open your mind and listen to him now that he is not in that role. He makes down to earth common sense!

if you would tell me your real name and relationship with him- I might beleive it. But having friends and relatives who worked in Charles County Govt- at all levels; I have doubts as to who told whom. We lost valuable people with Institutional Knowledge that set this County back years.
Dont you find the timeleine suspicious?

Sorry 4eyes,
I don’t buy it! And it appears that anyone who had any dealings with him doesn’t buy it either.  He should spend his time making money as an attorney.  He just isn’t a good fit here.

I, also, tend to believe that Comfort got the ax for standing up to the commissioners.  Even if you don’t know any of these folks personally, the commissioners actions have spoken for themselves.  They’re all doomed.  Why should I believe that they are more upstanding than Comfort.

As for the teachers…  HAHAHAHAHAHA!  Talk about an exclusive club!  If you don’t have “D” next to your name, you’re NEVER get a positive nod from them (not now, anyway).  They are very loyal to the union.

My fellow comrades of The People’s Republic of Maryland have spoken. Now, hopefully, someone will make my house payment for me!

Oh please.  That is all we need. Another person like Cooper who can’t get along with other agencies or be straight with the county residents.  Hope the announcement is he isn’t running.

FM II.  While I don’t have any lost love for Comfort, I believe that is precisely why he was let go.  Remember, there are two HUGE controlling egos among the county commissioners, Cooper and Graves.  As long as Comfort was toeing the line they kept him on as the front man for their shenagians.  Once those two began to perceive that Comfort might eclipse their fragile egos and become the face of Charles County Government, their couldn’t take it and Wayne and Sam had to get rid of him to make sure they remained the most important people in Charles County.  That behavior should be familiar to anyone who know those two or who has witnessed them in action?  The sadest part is that at least three voted together on the issue and that the other two aren’t adept enough to build an alliance capable of blocking that unholy triumverate.  The art of the deal behind non-transparent closed doors is the order of business for elected officials here.

I’ve heard unconfirmed reports that Paul has canceled his plans to seek the position of Commissioner President. I’ll try and confirm this, but regardless we’ll know by mid-next week—the filing deadline is Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 9:00 p.m.
