Candice, it does not matter who you are running against, you have my vote. I feel you have always maintained a high standard of integrity and demonstrated strong leadership skills. With that said, we are counting on you to be elected and protect us from your incompetent opponent.

I wonder if her plan included a professional economic development staff or an outsourced contract arrangement.

Candace is the only viable candidate for Commissioner President.  She is thorough, professional, thoughtful and actually listens to what others have to say.  She actually stands for something, so she won’t fall for everything, and doesn’t have to rely on the money of special interests so she is beholding to no one.  I don’t know the republican candidate, but am quite familiar with Dr. Patterson.  If she makes it though the primary there is simply no hope for this county.  While Edith appears to be a nice person, she was the first example of a PhD in county government that proves formal eduction isn’t all its cracked up to be.

Ms. Patterson has an Ed.D, not a Ph.D.  Just setting the record straight.

Thanks Ken, but does it really matter?

Poor Richard, there’s a difference between an Ed.D and a Ph.D.  I may be going out on a limb here as there are many varibles, but the Ph.D usually requires more substance and is usually more rigorous to obtain.  Not to slight Ms Patterson’s Ed.D (she may be very proficient at the job she holds at CSM), but that she holds an Ed.D isn’t evident when she speaks or tries to take the lead in a commissioner’s meeting.  Her lack of depth on issues facing CC is obvious, and her comments are forced and superficial as if she’s scripted and once off script, she’s lost.  Her tenure as Commissioner of District 2 didn’t exactly show her as being able to handle problems in her district; how she ever thinks she has the “goods” to be President of the Commissioners and have to deal with all of CC is beyond me.

I appreciate everyone trying to be accurate concerning an Ed.D v. Ph.D., and apologize if I have tweaked any delicate sensibilities.  However, the discussion equates to a distinction without a difference.  Earning either doesn’t and hasn’t equipped either individual with the requisite knowledge, experience, or judgement to serve in the capacity they currently do.

Reckon the Charles County Board of Education feels the same as you, Poor Richard.  Edith Patterson’s Ed.D didn’t do her any good nor, it seems, did her tenure as a BOE member, as they endorsed CQK.

Richard it indeed matters.  Unfortunately, with her education, she is still not equipped to handle our county government. She is not educated about the issues that this county face. She indeed was a puppet of Wayne Cooper whom was probably the worst commissioner that the county has ever seen.

Do not re-elect any of them…..it is time to bring real people to the table like Candice to start fixing that last 5 years.

Candice did an absolutely outstanding job answering the questions at last nights forum. It certainly proved that she is aware and knowledgeble about the issues that face this county. I am not sure what education Candice has as she does not blast it around like Edith does, but I can certainly tell you that Candice is much more educated that Edith will ever hope to be.  Ediths answers last night in now way represnted the questions that were actually asked. What a joke!!!!!
