The best thing Edith Patterson could do right now is put as much distance between herself and Cooper. I think she truely cares about doing the right thing, but has gotten the reputation of being Copper’s puppet. Distance is her only option. The more the better.
Ms. Patterson would have to recognize the “right thing” before she could care about doing it. That would be giving her way more credit than she has earned as a commissioner.
Commissioner Patterson is so clueless its frightening. While I don’t have anything against her and its obvious she did the work to receive her degree, the spoken record of her term as a commissioner proves that anyone who can weather a public eduction can receive a doctorate. If you listen to her on most issues she usually isn’t well versed in the subject matter at hand, can’t connect the dots and usually offers some inane question or observation, generally beginning with the phrase: “I’m simply saying…..” Not only is her performance as an elected official an embarrassment to her, her election reflects very poorly on those who put her in office. Having a doctorate doesn’t qualify anyone for anything, if they cannot absorb complex issues and think critically or even independently of the other four miscreants. Although Cooper has certainly lowered the bar, Patterson isn’t qualified to serve as Commissioner president and needs to “simply” go away.
Why is it that when I hear her speak that I feel like she may have purchased her degree on Ebay??? She was absolutely clueless last night at the forum. She did not answer any of the questions directly, instead she recited some conflicted rehearsed bit instead.
Candice spoke clearly on EVERY question asked. She answered the questions with knowledge and integrity. It is time for a change…..EDITH MUST GO!!!!!

Like pulling out of the election would be a good start….
Edith seems like a very nice person but I think she is about as dumb as a box of rocks. How does one get a a Doctorate degree yet have no common sense…Oh wait, I know a bunch of lawyers that also have advanced degrees and are clueless.
PERSONAL OPINION ONLY HERE:
DR PATTERSON may have a great looking resume; but that does not mean she can perform the requirements that we need from a Commissioner especially in these difficult times. (I know her supporters may disagree, but remember you are seeing her from a different angle than others)
I see her as aloof to others, especially not in her class or social spectrum
I see her as uncaring and unresponsive of her constituents
I see her as not willing to lift up those left behind; but instead blames them for their lack of ‘rising up’
I see her as divisive, not conciliatory or inclusive
I see her afraid of the public- she always has to be accompanied
I see her as not being strong enough to ‘control’ opposing viewpoints- she looks around for others to take control (seen by all at Clifton Mtng in the Comm room)
I see her as not being spontaneous enough to say her thoughts quickly and concisely
I see her as not being able to attend to her commitments- see her lack of attending or sending someone to represent her on Boards- even though they are listed
on her resume as accomplishments
I see her as not being business savvy- enough, to draw in Businesses that we need to stir our economy.
I see her as not being technically advanced- a need for this current World.
I could go on- but that is enough for now. For goodness sakes- if you want a better County- she IS NOT THE LEADER WE NEED/
I have seen her improvements in speaking (at the forum it showed that she had been coached and had been practicing- even though the answers were not to the question.
I see Edith as two-dimensional with no substance and no platform to equal that of CQK.

It’s called rote memorization, and it can work for anyone. Edith was pitiful at that forum. She had no real answers; she could only recite what she had memorized which stinks just as much as if she had not answered at all (and wouldn’t you think anyone running for Commissioner President who’s been a sitting commissioner for 4 years would have a handle on county business and issues?). If she ever watches and listens to herself, I can’t imagine why she thinks she’s capable of being Commissioner President.
I have to agree with Barbara and Seahorse. Specifically regarding her care for others, view the Cliffton meeting. http://www.charlescounty.org/commissioners/channel95/streaming/meetings/2010/Aug/25/BOCC_082510.html
I just finished watching it. The residents of Cliffton patiently sat and listened to the commissioners, the developers and the county attorney. When the residents of Cliffton wanted to speak, they were limited to 3 minutes, even though the commissioners, Fink and the developers spend much more time. Edith continually cut people from speaking and was very rude. It is very clear, watch the video. You can hear in her voice that she did not care what the people of Cliffton prepared so diligently to say. If only Edith spent time listening, maybe she would have a clue. She is by far the least qualified candidate for President. She claims to be on boards, but does not attend the meetings. SHE IS A JOKE. I cannot wait until September 15th when I can post on her Facebook exactly how I feel about her and what she has done for our county.
................and view the video as soon as possible, I would not put it past her to have it removed. I have my very own copy and will put it online and post another link.

I watched Quack’s clips (say that really fast 5 times…LOL), and this was the first time I’ve ever seen Fink totally lose it. Is this how he acts behind-closed-doors in secret meetings? When we get new commissioners, I hope he’s one of the first ones out the door. Edith tried her darnest to quiet the crowd, but her presence and her lack of understanding or caring or knowing what to say, showed, yet again, how totally inept she is.
Those Cliffton folks didn’t even need 3 minutes to get across how they felt so limiting them didn’t matter—they blew the developer, Fink and the 4minus1 commissioners out of the water!
