What are your thoughts about the upcoming Apocalyptic ending of the world?

My thought is, nothing will happen and the calendar will continue to turn. What I am worried about are all the kooks out there that believe the world is going to end on 12/21/2012 and they start doing stupid things leading up to this date that will injure or kill innocent people.

I presume you mean 12/21/2012… I predict nothing will happen, and that the police state will be well-entrenched by that time such that we’ll have to ask permission to leave our houses. That ought to allay your fear.

Just like someone on the far left in the Obama administration once said “Never let a good crisis go to waste”, 12-21-12 is a prime example of an incident that could cause our country to go into a tale spin for political motives or as I like to say a “Fundamental Change” in our country, and it ain’t the change I’m looking for.

It’s never too early to panic.

I tend to panic several times a day.

I too have to agree with Citizen here, it’s not the approaching date of 12/21/12 that I’m afraid of, it’s the mind set of some of the populace in the United States I worry about. Some people are weak minded and will fall into the “End of the World” trance that will be spun as this date approaches. These are the Looney Tunes I worry about; these people will start to do crazy things as the day of the so called reckoning approaches.

There will be an escalation in robberies, home evasions, assaults, and murder all over, watch the large urban areas as a barometer of this, when this starts happening and riots break out local government will impose some type of curfew, or worse the Federal Government will impose “Marshall Law” in our large cities, they will have to, but I’m afraid that won’t even be enough to stem the tide of crazies out there, and let’s not forget the nefarious people or groups out there that will also use this time period to commit and carry out acts of violence against our way of life. It’s going to get ugly.

I believe police officers will stay home to protect their families; this will also add to the spike in crime. Some water treatment plants and power stations may go off line because a majority of these workers will be staying home also, face it; a lot of our infrastructure will be compromised as this date grows closer.

I’m not going to panic, I’m going to prepare!!!!!!!!!

Last time it was end of world- people supplied themselves and hunkered down- then the last prophesy for a big sect; the people were buying life care insurance for there pets for when they were ‘raptured” and their pets were left behind. Many sold all they had- quit jobs and went to the same spot so they could be ‘raptured’ together. For some reason it struck me in a way: Why would they need the money if they were ‘raptured”?

If you honestly believe any of this will happen you might be the biggest lunatic of all.

Well some were castigated as lunatics when we were grumbling about the liberty-robbing PATRIOT Act that was passed in the wake of 9/11. Or that some of the “interpretations” by our government of some of the PATRIOT Act provisions would be secret. Or that we’d live in a country where our government would illegally spy on us via telephone taps and then grant immunity to the telcos. Or that we’d have “no-fly” lists, whose composure is secret—if you end up on it, you’re not allowed to know why. Or that we’d have to submit to a molestation or naked body scan before being allowed to fly. Or the provisions in the NDAA where we can now be held indefinitely. etc., etc., etc.

So in a way I agree with Citizen and ‘yote. But we don’t need to wait for people to start falling of the deep end in the name of the end of times for this stuff to happen—we are in the throes of it right this very moment.

My response to the question, as it was posed, is that there’s nothing I can do to stop it; and I won’t be around after it happens so I’m not going to spend anytime worrying about it. Until then, I plan to continue to love my family and live my life as if each day is my last.

I think I’m more concerned about the shape things are in if it doesn’t happen.

I’m not so much worried about 21 Dec 2012, as I am all the other things in the world that will/can affect us. For one, we dodged a bullet with the CME that hit us on the 24th; our magnetic field was still reverberating from one that hit us on the 21st. If by chance another one hits us thats as strong(er) than the last one anytime soon, our electrical infrastructure might take a hit.

P.S.
Did anyone else in Charles County smell something burning the other night (the 24th) that smelled like an electrical fire? Guess what it was.

As long as I’m on our electrical infrastructure, what if a rouge country fired a 10-25 Mt ICBM from a tramp steamer off the coast of VA up to an altitude of about 250 miles over Kansas then detonated it. The EMP would fry every transformer and substation and electronic device in a 2000 mile radius, and then the cascading power failure would fry the rest of them across the U.S. and probably all of Canada. Remember what happened a couple of years ago with that cascading electric problem in the N.E., that was caused from a little problem with a reversed circuit, that lasted a day. If we’re hit with an EMP do you think you could live in the 17th century , no lights, no natural gas, and maybe no car that was built after 1991 for a year or longer? Anything that has a computer chip or an electronic circuit in it will be fried.

Anyone that has nothing to do tonight, check out something called the “Beast of Yellowstone” on the internet.

Yes see fellow DD’s, there are a lot of other things that can harm us, other than a bogus Mayan Calendar.
