I’m not so much worried about 21 Dec 2012, as I am all the other things in the world that will/can affect us. For one, we dodged a bullet with the CME that hit us on the 24th; our magnetic field was still reverberating from one that hit us on the 21st. If by chance another one hits us thats as strong(er) than the last one anytime soon, our electrical infrastructure might take a hit.
P.S.
Did anyone else in Charles County smell something burning the other night (the 24th) that smelled like an electrical fire? Guess what it was.
As long as I’m on our electrical infrastructure, what if a rouge country fired a 10-25 Mt ICBM from a tramp steamer off the coast of VA up to an altitude of about 250 miles over Kansas then detonated it. The EMP would fry every transformer and substation and electronic device in a 2000 mile radius, and then the cascading power failure would fry the rest of them across the U.S. and probably all of Canada. Remember what happened a couple of years ago with that cascading electric problem in the N.E., that was caused from a little problem with a reversed circuit, that lasted a day. If we’re hit with an EMP do you think you could live in the 17th century , no lights, no natural gas, and maybe no car that was built after 1991 for a year or longer? Anything that has a computer chip or an electronic circuit in it will be fried.
Anyone that has nothing to do tonight, check out something called the “Beast of Yellowstone” on the internet.
Yes see fellow DD’s, there are a lot of other things that can harm us, other than a bogus Mayan Calendar.
