Benedict Revitalization Plan Passes

The Bay Net, by Andy Marquis

A plan to revitalize the Benedict waterfront got approval of the Charles County Commissioners on Tuesday.  The Charles County Planning Commission approved the plan in August and multiple public hearings have been held.

Charles County Commissioner Ken Robinson (D: 1st) praised the efforts of county staff for their public outreach efforts during the meeting.  The plan adds a county park with historic interpretation, upgrades to the riverfront, sidewalks and streetlights and a riverfront promenade.

  • 1. · Benedict is a jewel in the rough and I am so glad to hear that our Commissioners are willing to exploit it. This could be Charles County's little Old Town Alexandria someday and today the 1st step has been taken.

  • 2. · With the money grubbing Developer's and their pals in real estate and others it will destroy this area and in a number of years we will be bitching about the mess in Benedict. Found out who is making the money and then we will see!
