Wise, Cook Re-Elected as Chas. Co. Board of Ed. Chairman, Vice Chairman

Southern Maryland Online,

The Board of Education of Charles County re-elected Roberta Wise as chairman and Maura Cook as vice chairman at its Jan. 10 meeting. The Board elects a chairman and vice chairman each January. Officers serve one-year terms.

Board members unanimously re-elected Wise to the chairmanship position that she has held for the past two years. In accepting the nomination, Wise said she would continue to keep the Board focused and united as the group works through the challenges of the coming year. “We will need to continue to strive for improvements in operations and most importantly, student achievement. Additionally, redistricting, construction of St. Charles High School and preparation for the selection of our next Superintendent are all issues that will require our focused attention,” Wise said.

  • 1. · Yes, and if the past is prologue, under her leadership, the Board will fill the vacant and soon to be vacant top leadership positions of the school administration, in any way that presents the least effort. Plan on having no National applications invited for these positions and also plan on hiring these top people at the highest possible salary as has always been the case regardless of their ability or progressive imagination. That is why we now have to give parents the right to move their children from lots of low performing schools to slightly better ones that just barely survived the minimum performance curve for educating their students.

  • 2. · "During a 15-minute break, however, the majority of those who came out from the school system left, including schools Superintendent James E. Richmond, two Charles County Board of Education members, Vice Chairwoman Maura H. Cook and Chairwoman Roberta S. Wise, and several school principals."

This is just an example of the point that I made in my previous post. The entire education system needs to be examined if the citizens are concerned about getting value for the enormous tax burden that they are expending and getting inferior results--decade after decade.

  • 3. · tHANK You Iman...I want to bring awareness of just what folks are voting for when they elect the school board. They control half of our tax money and I bet when voting most just vote for names they already heard.
